What is One Day For STATE?

One Day for STATE is an opportunity for all Jackrabbits - alumni, donors, students, faculty – to join forces in celebrating SDSU and the impact that can be made by donations.

Why is One Day for STATE different than any other day?

Gifts made during One Day for STATE have the opportunity to earn bonus funds for colleges and featured programs at South Dakota State University. This means your gift has the opportunity to go farther and make an even bigger impact.

Why is South Dakota State doing this?

Private donations are instrumental to the success of students at SDSU. Whether in support of student scholarships, updated classrooms and facilities, or recruitment of high caliber faculty and staff, these dollars really do help make a difference.

Can anyone participate in One Day for STATE?

Absolutely! Support from the entire Jackrabbit family is what makes SDSU a remarkable place!

Is there a minimum or maximum donation I can make on One Day for STATE?

Yes. The minimum gift amount is $5, and every gift makes a difference. The sky’s the limit for the impact that you want to make!

What are challenges?

Challenges are a way to amplify the impact of your gift. Generous donors have provided challenge funds that will be unlocked upon achieving particular goals. For tax purposes, donors who participate in the giving challenges will be credited for their individual contribution only.

How will my donation be used?

Funds raised on One Day for STATE will benefit SDSU. Check out each challenges page to find out more details about how those particular funds will be used.

Will there be an on-campus celebration event for One Day for STATE?

While One Day for STATE is predominantly an online event, there will be an on-campus celebration as well. The One Day for STATE event will be held outside the Union on the southwest patio (rain location will be inside the Union, outside the Book Store) from 9am-7pm.

What is a Social Ambassador?

A Social Ambassador is an individual who chooses to help support SDSU on the One Day for STATE by acting as a digital volunteer. These individuals will allow us to utilize the power of their personal social networks to help spread the word about One Day for STATE. Click here to learn more.

How can I give my gift?

We want to make it easy for you to participate in One Day for STATE, and gifts can be given a variety of ways: Online

By Phone: Call 605.697.7475 on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, between the hours of 8am-5pm CST.

By Mail: Gifts must be received by 11:59pm CST on August 30, 2017 to count toward challenge funds. They can be mailed to 815 Medary Avenue, Brookings, SD 57006.

In Person: Gifts can be delivered in person to the Lohr Foundation Building from 8am-5pm or at the on-campus event outside the Union from 9am-7pm.

Can I make a gift before One Day for STATE?

Yes, we know that all donors’ schedules may not allow them to participate on August 30, 2017. You can make a gift online (link) or by mail in advance of One Day for STATE. Please be sure to indicate “One Day for STATE” in the comments section of your gift.

Is my credit card payment secure?

Yes, the SDSU Foundation uses a secure, off-site payment processor called Stripe to process our credit card transactions.

Will my One Day for STATE contribution be tax-deductible?

Yes. Your gift is tax-deductible. You will receive an email confirmation. In addition, donors with over $250 cumulative annual giving will receive a mailed year-end summary that can be used for tax purposes.
